La Maison de Wakefield has rigorous and standardised cleaning and maintenance procedures. These are documented and updated regularly and a copy is available in the house for guests to review. The cleaner is professional and experienced.
The property will be cleaned, sanitised and disinfected in preparation for guest’s arrival. La Maison de Wakefield uses the following methods for providing a safe and healthy environment.
Cleaning
- The property does not allow same day bookings after the previous guests have departed, ensuring there is at least 24 hours between guests. Often there will also be 48-72 hours before the arrival of the next guests, which will be communicated
- Small viral particles/respiratory droplets can hang in the air for up to 3 hours. The cleaner will not enter the property for at least 3 hours after guests have departed ensuring any viral particles have settled to the ground
- All windows are opened after guests have departed to air the property
- Bedlinen will not be shaken after being removed from beds and will be immediately placed into the washing machine and the cleaner will wash her hands before putting new clean linen on the bed
- All bedlinen and towelling are washed at 60 degrees celsius
- All sleeping pillows have pillow protectors and the mattresses have 3 separate mattress protectors
- The cleaner uses appropriate personal protective equipment including masks, disposable gloves and new gloves will be used for each rental cleaning and changed for cleaning the toilet and bathroom
- Different cloths are used for cleaning to help prevent cross contamination with other surfaces
- All TV and air con remotes have an easy to clean wipeable cover
- The cleaner regularly washes her hands throughout the cleaning procedure
Disinfecting
- Disinfection is a separate additional step after cleaning
- A disinfectant containing at least 70% alcohol is used which kills bacteria and viruses including COVID-19, on high touch surfaces including benchtops and tabletops, doorknobs, stair railings, appliance handles, drawer knobs, taps, toilet flushes, light switches, remotes, keys and key lockbox
- Hand sanitisers available at or near the entrances to the house
- Disinfecting spray is allowed time to sit on the surface before being wiped off
- All stainless steel surfaces in the kitchen are disinfected
- All plastic cutting boards are disinfected
- All rubbish bins are disinfected
- Additional natural disinfectants on top of 70% alcohol are used including vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, lavender essential oil which has antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties.
Additionally, guests are encouraged to
- Wash hands regularly especially after coughing or sneezing or being with other people such as on public transport, in gathering places, shopping areas or restaurants, etc
- Wash hands after handling and storing purchased groceries, before and after preparing food and after cleaning
- Use tissues and dispose of them appropriately, immediately after use
- Cough or sneeze into the elbow
- Wash fresh fruits and vegetables thoroughly with clean water
- Clean dish cloths used for cleaning kitchen surfaces by placing into the microwave for 30 seconds or in the dishwasher during a cycle
- Use the hand sanitiser on arrival/arriving home to prevent germs from entering and travelling through the house
Please note excessive use of hand sanitiser is not encouraged. It is meant to be used if you are unable to wash your hands with soap and water and is no more effective in stopping the spread of respiratory diseases. Recent studies have shown excessive use of alcohol based hand sanitisers can increase antimicrobial resistance in bacteria. Additionally, it removes the top layer of oil from hands taking the good bacteria with it.
